Seniors Singalong

Posted on 3 February 2021 by Webmaster

Seniors Singalong on Saturday 13 February at 19.30 via Zoom

The performers will be the very talented Jean Bentley and Frank McConnell who have both served on our Forum’s committee (Frank was our Chairman for 6 years)

They have very kindly prepared a concert that will last for about an hour with a short break in the middle for refreshments.

Members who came to the Stag Theatre in October 2018 when SDSAF held an event there during ‘Silver Week’ may remember with great enjoyment Jean and Frank entertaining us in the café with songs and tunes from across the years. Both have been entertaining audiences for most of their lives.

Jean studied music in College and is now retired from teaching Music and Drama. Her passion for singing led her to solo work and to membership of several choirs in the South East, notably the Kent Chamber Choir, the London Octave Choir, and Quinquagesima, a choir that takes over Cathedral duties when the locals go on holiday. On her travels, she has performed in Brazil, several European countries, and across the UK.

Frank has been a professional or semi-professional musician for nearly 60 years, with several recorded albums to his name from Children’s favourites, through standards, to his own compositions. You may have seen him as the soloist at the Kent Chamber Choir concert in Otford in 2019. He was a presenter for Classic fm for some time.

We can look forward to some delightful singing and guitar music as well as the opportunity to sing along to some well known tunes (with our microphones on mute).

You are most welcome to attend. Please send a quick email to comms@sdsaf.org.uk saying you would like to join and we will send you the Zoom link and a copy of the lyrics.
