The SDSAF Social Team are to be congratulated for facilitating a very successful Vibe Dance at the Alexandra Suite in Swanley on the 1st July. Over 40 Seniors were swirling on the dance floor to lively music. Many hadn’t danced before but, after some instruction from Dwain, were able to enjoy doing a bit of rock ‘n’ roll in a friendly social setting and many are now determined to ‘’keep dancing!’.
Dance is good physically and mentally and it may be that taking up dance later in life plays a part in staving off dementia and a great way of overcoming loneliness.
The highlight of the afternoon was the delicious tea donated by the Riverside Tea Room in Eynsford. Copious amounts of freshly baked cakes and scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam were enjoyed together with summer fruits and a variety of gluten free options. A big ‘Thank You’ to the Eynsford Tea Room for their community spirit and generous support.
Raffle prizes included a book donated and signed by Len Goodman and a pamper session for tired feet.
All the participants and the Team of SDSAF volunteers who made sure that everything went smoothly, can be proud of this achievement. SDSAF was supporting an initiative run by the Royal Voluntary Service, funded by Prudential, called ‘First Time for Everything’.
