Protect Otford

Posted on 3 September 2026 by Webmaster

Protect Otford is offering support for anyone who may need help completing the Sevenoaks District Council Development Survey.

Several senior residents made us aware that they are are not comfortable with online forms, and this particular survey is more complex than the local Otford Parish Council survey. It also serves a different purpose: the SDC survey goes directly to the Government and can influence the Government’s decision on future development plans. Because of this, it is essential that residents include their own experiences, photos, and videos showing the current pressures on infrastructure.

We urgently need as many people as possible to respond. The proposed developments around Otford total 4,000+ new homes: 200+ in Pilgrims Way West; 300+ in Pilgrims Way East; 2,800+ on Sevenoaks Road; 1,400+ north of Sevenoaks.

This scale of building would bring 6,000+ additional cars onto our already strained roads. Water supply, drainage, and GP services would be pushed to their limits, with longer waiting times expected. Otford would no longer remain a village — it would merge into a continuous built‑up area with Dunton Green, Riverhead, and Sevenoaks. Trains would become even more overcrowded at peak times, and parking at the station would be almost impossible.

Protect Otford is offering full support with the survey. Myself, and the Otford Protection Committee are all available to help.

If anyone needs assistance, please email: protectotford@otfordsociety.org.uk

We will also be going door‑to‑door to reach residents who no longer use email, ensuring everyone who wants to respond in is able to.

We fully understand that not everyone is against the proposed developments. Our aim is simply to ensure that those who are concerned have the support they need to make their voices heard.
