Free mental health awareness workshops for Sevenoaks Community
Mental health is everyone’s business, but talking about it doesn’t always feel comfortable.
Thanks to funding from Sevenoaks District Council, local charity West Kent Mind are offering four free mental health awareness workshops, open to anyone (aged 18+) who lives, works or studies in the Sevenoaks district.
These friendly, supportive workshops will give participants clarity and confidence to start difficult conversations, and the tools to improve listening skills. The sessions will bust myths and misconceptions about mental health and participants will have increased knowledge about where to signpost people to additional support. There will also be practical advice on how to look after participants’ own wellbeing including tips for tackling stress.
Individuals, businesses, work colleagues, volunteers and community groups are all welcome to attend and learn more about mental health.
Participants on the Let’s Talk workshops will also have the opportunity to become West Kent Mind Wellbeing Champions, helping to build a mentally healthy community in Sevenoaks.
When and where are the workshops?
[The workshops are the same content, so participants should just book onto one date.]

West Kent Mind Training Manager, Ceri Hodgkiss, said, “Listening needs practice, just like any skill. A good listener can make someone realise that they matter, and that it’s OK for them to need some extra support for their mental wellbeing. Feeling heard and understood can be the first step to recovery, so I’m delighted that we’re able to provide these free workshops to support our community.”
